Prepare for a Seashore Safari & Seawatch Adventure with Ranger Jane! In collaboration with the Beach House Hotel, Ranger Jane will be hosting an activity on 28th May with a “Seashore Safari” activity first, followed by lunch and then a “Seawatch” activity. Tickets go on sale on 1st March and places are limited – grab your tickets before they’re gone!
An epic adventure starts at seahouses
Jane Dixon, the friendly face behind Ranger Jane’s Beach School, isn’t just your average guide. She’s a nomination-worthy superstar who crafts unforgettable coastal adventures for curious kids (and adventurous grown-ups too!) Her guided seashore safari’s, beach activities and coastal adventures have rightly earned her nominations in 2023 in representing Northumberland, for the National Tourism Superstar Award. This campaign recognises and celebrates those who go the extra mile to ensure tourists in England have an unforgettable visitor experience.
At the Beach House Hotel, we’re thrilled to welcome Ranger Jane on 28th May for a day of Seashore Safari and Seawatch fun! Your little explorers will:
- Embark on a Seashore Safari – uncover hidden treasures in tide pools, search for sea creatures, and learn all about the wonders of the seashore.
- Fuel up for adventure with a delicious lunch break. Time to share exciting discoveries and recharge for the next challenge!
- Become high-seas detectives with a Seawatch activity. Scan the horizon with binoculars, searching for playful dolphins, majestic whales, and maybe even a sneaky seal or two!
It’s more than just a day at the beach – it’s an unforgettable learning experience! Jane will ignite your child’s curiosity about the seashore and ocean, leaving them with memories that will last a lifetime. Tickets go on sale from 1st March 2024.
About Ranger Jane
Jane has lived in Northumberland since 2010 but has always loved the region, having holidayed in Northumberland as a child. She has so many happy memories of staying in Low Newton-by-the-Sea, where she and her siblings would explore the sand dunes, rock pools and spend hours spotting local wildlife.
Fast forward a few years and Jane’s affection for the Northumberland Coast continued as she became a National Trust ranger in North Northumberland, based from Low Newton! The job included working with the local community through activities like school nature walks, big hunts, middle school litter picking and rock pooling days with scouts and guides, where she witnessed first hand the positive impact on children’s wellbeing these activities made. Over the years, her job allocated less time for community engagement so Jane bravely made the decision to become a freelance educator, pursuing her passion for working with community groups by establishing her own beach school.
Tourism Award nomination
A testament to its incredible popularity, Jane’s Beach School was shortlisted in 2023 to represent Northumberland for the coveted Tourism Superstars Award. Hundreds of nominations were made across the country and a judging panel created a shortlist of just 10 for a nationwide public vote. Jane was nominated by Visit Northumberland, having been secretly put forward by a number of local holiday cottage owners. A videographer spend five hours with Jane making the 45-second film as part of her nomination. A good friend brought her grandchildren to be top secret models and Matt, the videographer, drove from London, used a drone and took video and photographs to be used in the secret shoot.
Jane was absolutely thrilled to clinch 4th place for the award in such a competitive field. The recognition she received has filled her with pride and further fuelled her passion to continue making waves with the beach school.
